TECH TALK: Meet Lucy Jefferis, the nail tech with a talent for hand drawn decals

Lucy Jefferis launched nail decal company Miss Lucy UK in early 2020, determined to excel in the industry she loved despite mental health battles making client appointments challenging.
“I was unable to continue working within the beauty industry as I suffered with OCD, which spiralled out of control,” Lucy reveals. “I found myself unable to cope with day-to-day life and had to leave what I loved doing the most behind.”
Lucy utilised her recovery time to adapt her artistry so she could continue to make people feel good about their nails without affecting her mental health, learning skills such as digital illustration, social media strategies and website design.
Miss Lucy UK offers digitally hand drawn illustrated nail art that can be used professionally by techs or used by consumers who simply want to freshen up their nails.
“Easy to apply, the decals add accents to already perfected nails and make each manicure and pedicure unique,” Lucy says. “The decal sheets come put together with design inspiration laid out, to make it simple to create a perfect design.”
Lucy’s ultimate goal is to help others create detailed designs at a fraction of the time of hand painting a design, while not sacrificing style or beauty. Her favourite design is ‘Feelin Fruity’, which is full of vibrant colours and abstract elements, encouraging creative freedom and expression.
Looking to the future, Lucy’s next project is developing her own range of stamping plates. She feels passionate about ensuring her company is as eco-friendly as possible, therefore this manufacturing will take place in the UK, as with her other products. “I also hope to expand my business further by offering bespoke and commissioned custom decals for other shops to sell,” she comments.
