Scratch catches up with nail tech, Carly Reilly, to learn more about her industry journey…
Carly Reilly has been working in the nail industry since the age of 17.
“It’s been nearly 20 years since I became self-employed and I still have just as much passion, if not more, for the industry,” she says. “The last five years have been the most exciting for me as I feel like trends have really evolved and become a lot more artistic.”
Carly’s salon is based in Hambleton, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire where she works full time and has built up a reputation for using the colour blocking technique in her nail art designs.
“I enjoy creating new geometric designs that can be simple or complex with pops of colour,” Carly comments. “I love the reaction I get from my clients when I come up with something new for them. My favourite design that I have created is a geometric one featuring black, white, nude and rose gold colours – a wonderful colour combination.”
Carly’s career goals are to build her online presence and vlog more of her daily work. “I spend every day scrolling through social media and would love to inspire others with my work,” she says. “I would also like to set myself a new challenge and enter some competitions.”
CJP Nail System’s Black Magic is Carly’s favourite product to use. “I have used many products over the years, but I fell in love with CJP products about four years ago. It’s now my main system and I’m always excited for new colours being released.”
Carly is now the CJP educator for Lancashire and has just completed Educator’s Week with Chrissie Pearce, who runs a nail academy. “I am very much looking forward to offering a variety of courses for a company that I have loved and respected for years.”
