Scotland home salon: the pro offering a one-stop shop for nails, hair & beauty services

Emma Saunderson, the owner of Angus-based salon, GlamEm, has made a name for herself as a versatile beauty professional, offering an impressive range of beauty treatments from her home salon.

Having trained as a nail technician in 2019 with Young Nails, Emma initially worked on a mobile basis. Though as her clientele grew, so did her ambition.

She expanded her skillset by completing numerous courses in brow design and lamination, lash lifts and henna brows, all with Lunar Beauty. Shortly after, she completed a bridal and event hair course with Sally Beauty.

As Emma’s expertise continued to evolve, she set up a beauty room in her spare bedroom, allowing her client base to grow further. Determined to continue expanding her treatment list, Emma then completed courses in skincare, facials and intimate waxing.

The list of services GlamEm offers includes:

• Gel and builder gel services (using Premier Gel and Cuccio).
• Lash lifts and tints.
• Brow design and tints.
• Brow lamination.
• Bridal and event hair styling.
• Facials.
• Microdermabrasion facials.
• Henna brows.
• Waxing.

As her skillset expanded, so did her need for more space. In May 2024, Emma opened a cabin in her garden to accommodate her growing business. She shares her excitement: “I absolutely love how I can fit my work around my young family. It’s also so rewarding to enhance my clients’ natural features. I love making people feel great and seeing them leave with a smile on their face.”

Emma describes her refurbished salon as ‘a warm and inviting space with my own quirky mark on it’. “I chose a purple colour scheme as it is a colour I have always loved,” she says.

Looking forward, Emma seeks to continue undertaking training courses, with her sights set on offering more treatments.
