After years working mobile and across her dining room table, Kirstan Hart’s recent house move saw space for her very own nail studio. “I’ve always been obsessed with interior design and having my very own studio to decorate how I like (without having to confer with the husband) was the dream project,” Kirstan smiles.
“The vibe for the studio is boho vintage. I’ve always been into upcycling furniture; recycling pieces that have been around for years to fit your style is so satisfying. The client waiting chair was my Nan’s and I just love it in the natural wood paired with a deep green velvet and cream cushion.
“I love neon lights and last year had my logo made to fit this style. I managed to source a neon sign that says ‘if these walls could talk’ which couldn’t be more perfect for all the girly gossip that goes on inside this room.
“The back wall is in Farrow & Ball colour, Bancha – a perfect khaki green. I also wanted plants to add splashes of green around the room, with some being real and others artificial. The lights on the ceiling are in an industrial style and I wrapped eucalyptus garlands around them.
“Handmade raw wood shelves, a vintage rug and velvet chair finish it all off. I also love how my products are now all on displayed on the side. It makes it easier for clients to peruse. Every nook and cranny is filled with glitters, gels, foils and brushes. I honestly think I could fill it all over again with nail art bits!”
Pleased with the outcome, the studio set-up reflects Kirstan’s style. “So many clients walk in and say ‘It’s so you!'” Kirstan smiles. “I like to think my salon is different and reflects me.”
