Holly Duckers opened Wildflower Hair and Beauty Studio in a renovated convenience shop in September 2019.
“At the time of opening we were a team of four, two hairdressers, one nail technician and one lash and brow technician. Within a month of opening, I had taken on the first salon apprentice. In September 2020, we expanded. Both the salon and the team doubled in size.”
“We had a challenging start due to Covid-19 and several lockdowns,” Holly explains. “We are hopeful that all that is behind us now, and that the salon can continue to thrive.
“As of November 2021, we have expanded to a total of 13 members of staff.”
“The thing that makes us different from other salons has definitely got to be the atmosphere. We as a salon have always wanted to create a super welcoming, calm and friendly environment.
“As a team we have a really good bond, and I think that clients can see that,” she smiles. “Once clients walk into the salon, they instantly feel comfortable, as though they are visiting their best friends.”
“We want the salon to be known as somewhere you can be yourself, express yourself and enjoy yourself.”
“We offer a wide range of treatments,” Holly enthuses. “We specialise in making everyone who leaves the salon feel confident, whether that be a blow dry, an eyebrow tint and wax or even having a cute mix and match set of nails.
“We specialise in anything current and on trend and make sure we can offer advice on the most up to date fashion and style.”
“As we feature beauty treatments across the board, we use products from a range of different brands,” she reveals. “Most of these come from our local wholesaler.
“We try and make conscious choices about using products that are both vegan and cruelty free, wherever we possibly can.”
“I chose all of the decor myself. I wanted the salon to be quirky and feminine. My idea was to try and build a brand around the name, by incorporating lots of different floral patterns and textures, that of course would look amazing on social media.
“I called upon 2 different local small businesses, Mise en Scene and Blooms at No 10, to help with the amazing floral walls we have in the salon,” Holly beams. “I wanted to create a feeling of luxury and an environment that clients get excited to visit.”
“I place a lot of importance in the tiny details, so was very fussy about everything I chose for the salon, even down to the coffee cups. It was so important to me that it was all perfect.
“I would say that the decor helps to create a modern, welcoming feel. We have lots of positive affirmation artwork around the salon from local artists, to help promote confidence and self love within our clients,” she smiles. “The most important thing to us is that our clients leave feeling like they could conquer the world, so I tried to incorporate as much positivity in the decor as possible.”
