Salon in the Spotlight: The Nail Studio, Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire

After a house move prompted the build of Catriona Leith’s ideal nail studio, the business has gone from strength to strength. “Being a mum of two young children, the set-up this gave me perfect way to balance work and family life,” explains Catriona, 2017’s winner of The Great Scratch Shoot Out. “In summer 2017 I met Sophie George, who was already a mobile nail tech but wanted to further her skills and grow her passion for nails. My diary was full to bursting so Sophie coming on board was ideal as she shares the same passion as I do. After some training, Sophie started working with me, and as a mum herself, we are able to cover each other so it works perfectly.
“In the last few months we have re-vamped the studio and have worked on our branding with a new website on the way as we really want to take The Nail Studio to the next level.”

Newly redecorated, the studio sees a calming palette of colours to complement the duo’s passion – glitter.
“The theme for the studio was inspired by glitter,” smiles Catriona. “We really wanted to convey a relaxed, calm atmosphere with a sophisticated theme so we selected white, grey with soft pink. We felt like those colours worked really well together, while also complimenting our silver glitter wall too.
“We also had our #sheglitters put on the wall in silver glitter which has really pushed our branding with clients using it in their own ‘nailfies’! We’ve had such a great response from our clients who love our little studio just as much as we do.
“Apart from being passionate about what we do and offer, Sophie and I have a real love for glitter. All our clients joke about how crazy we are about getting glitter on their nails! We live by our #sheglitters mantra – everyone deserves to sparkle. What makes us different is Sophie and I really do want to make every single client feel and look special. It’s not just about the nails. It’s about forming a bond with your client and ensuring that they feel like they matter – and they do! We love every single one of our clients and love how we make them feel. We are always up for a challenge and love to do something a bit different. Whether it’s Halloween Mickey Mouse themed to funky geometric shapes we love it! No design is too much; more is more! Even better if there’s a bit of glitter thrown in for good measure!”

With this passion evident, the duo have built up a loyal clientbase with its nail-focused treatment menu. “We offer all aspects of nail care, from a simple gel polish manicure to toenail reconstructions,” says Catriona. “We specialise in hard gel and are known for our intricate designs and flare for all things bling.
“We use a magnitude of products but we primarily use Crystal Nails hard gel for all our enhancements. We recently have also started using the new Crystal Nails Fusion range which is amazing. We love Magpie and Lecenté glitters; they are so sparkly and clients just love them.”
