“Jessica Haith and I both met when we began working together in a nail bar in 2017,” explains Ilex Wood. “Unfortunately, the nail bar suddenly closed, but it was due to this that we decided to combine our knowledge and experience and open our own.
“After seeing the perfect location in Bawtry, it was only a matter of a couple of weeks before the salon was ready. We installed a custom bar and completely renovated the building leaving in some of the old features.
“We have eight team members and honestly we are such a great team with amazing chemistry. Clients often comment that they commit to getting their nails done for the atmosphere! We have plans to expand in the future, we have goals set and we aim to achieve them but wanted to firmly establish ourselves first before growing our brand nationally.
“We think, in our area we are the only specialist nail salon. We offer different services too, however, we wanted to focus on the fact that nails is our strength. We all regularly focus on trends and have meetings to discuss what the latest trend forecast is going to be.
“Our decor and atmosphere sees an eclectic mix of colours and features. We decided we wanted something completely different and quirky – something that would match our personalities. We both knew what it would be like before we even discussed it! We decided to go for an industrial chic theme instead of a clinical look.
“It makes us stand out against other salons, clients comment how different and quirky it looks, with a warm, welcoming and cosy atmosphere.”
“Nail is our speciality, but we also offer HD Brows, Russian and Classic lash services and pedicures with an aesthetic clinic with a nurse practitioner. We use ProHesion acrylic, Gelish gel polish and ATJ Manicure and Pedicure range. We are the only salon in our area to offer Gelish PolyGel which makes our services unique, too.”
