“I have always loved painting and playing around with nails,” reveals Steff Georgiou. “I spent most of my time at university giving manicures as it massively helps my anxiety but I never thought I’d be able to make a career out of it. I found myself really unhappy and unfulfilled with the jobs I was in and that’s when I decided to take the plunge. I built up my knowledge and experience one certificate at a time until I could start building a client base. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done but it’s been the most rewarding and I would never look back.”
Finding a home in her salon, Steff’s business has gone from strength to strength thanks to her ethos of customer care and attention detail. “I like to keep things casual and chilled and that’s easy when there’s only myself and my client in the studio,” smiles Steff. “We both have a cuppa, we laugh, some of us have had a cry together. I use my professionalism and knowledge alongside so they truly feel like they’re receiving a tailor-made experience.
“I didn’t want anything clinical or uniform looking so I decided to go neutral and calm with textures of warm browns and taupes. I added lots of soft lighting to make it cosy so that clients can relax. It was also important to me that I enjoyed the space and felt comfortable.
“I’m passionate about natural nail care because people light up when they declare their nails are natural, healthy and look amazing! I offer Gelish, Dip and PolyGel services but I specialise in gel polish. I love the versatility of it and pride myself on tidiness. “I use GlitterArty for all of my glitters, pigments and general magic stuff.
“I hope people see the studio as chic but still homely and cosy rather than feeling like they’re under a spotlight and on a timescale conveyor belt.”
