Salon in the Spotlight: The Granary Spa, Ashford
Established in 2012, The Granary Spa is based in a converted Victorian granary barn in a rural location just outside of Ashford.
“We thrive on delivering a 5-star service to our guests, and offer a range of therapies including massage, tailored facials, waxing, reflexology, spa packages, manicures and pedicures.”
“The salon is owned by Clare, who has now managed to take a well deserved step back from the spa,” reveals spa manager, Laura McCarthy. “I deal with the day-to-day running of the spa, with assistance from the rest of the team. I love working behind the scenes, being on front of house and looking after guests.
“Our team of ten includes assistant manager and receptionist, Georgia, who is often found meeting and greeting guests, and working behind the scenes to help me run the spa. Cerys and Ellie are receptionists and therapists, offering assistance to myself and Georgia, and helping with marketing. Shar, Christina, Danielle, Natasha, Lillie and Isha are our spa therapists.”
“We have a fantastic team of experienced and knowledgeable therapists who always deliver a 5-star service to our guests. We like to involve the team where possible in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the spa, as it allows us to get together as a team and bounce around our ideas.
“The Granary Spa currently has four therapy rooms within the spa, and a cosy shepherds hut retreat in our courtyard garden,” she shares. “Who knows what the future holds for the spa – we are always looking to gain and expand on our customer base.”
“Our most popular treatments are anything that includes massage therapy. Our guests also love anything holistic, along with something to make their hands and feet look pretty,” Laura smiles. “Our typical client likes the holistic approach we offer.
“Most of our gusts visit regularly and love that we have a homely and family feel. We treat both men and women in the spa.”
“We’re a natural spa and always try to be as organic and natural were possible. We have carefully selected brands that fall in line with our ethos. We currently use Evolve Organic Beauty, Made For Life Organics, Shellac and The Manicure Company for gel polish and OPI Lacquer.
“We’re a rustic and quirky spa and we thrive on delivering an excellent service to our guests,” she explains. “We have a personal, caring and approachable touch, where our guests are made to feel comfortable and leave feeling totally relaxed and excited to return. We adapt to every client.”
“Our spa style is rustic, and as the building we are in is a granary barn, there’s lots of wood. We’re a natural and organic spa so the rustic and wooden touches fits in line with this,” Laura describes. “We have made the spa a retreat with a home away from home feel, and our guests always say it feels so comfortable.
“We love upstairs in the barn – we have an open plan area where guests can enjoy manicure and pedicure treatments along with our cosy relaxation lounge with recliner chairs, a mini library, and complimentary drinks.”
