Salon in the Spotlight: The Beach at Sunny Daze, Aviemore

Salon owner, Colette, sought to expand her sun bed and teeth whitening business, with plans to create a one-stop shop within her beauty salon.
The Beach at Sunny Daze salon opened its doors in April 2021, providing sister duo, Charlie Orriss of Nails by Charlie and Katie Beazley of Glazed with the nail bar that they are based at.

“I started my nail career in October 2019 when I completed my training with The GelBottle,” Charlie Orriss reveals. “I started out as a mobile nail technician, which I loved, but not long after I started, Covid struck.
“I spent lockdown practicing my nail art, watching tons of tutorials, and following other nail techs that inspired me. This was when the opportunity to join The Beach at Sunny Daze arose. I wanted the nail bar experience to feel welcoming and relaxing place to be, and I have so much fun as a sister duo since my sister, Katie, has joined me.”
“I offer a range of gel nail treatments which includes gel polish, builder in a bottle overlays, sculpted extensions, full cover extensions and nail art,” Charlie shares. “I’m very lucky to have clients who go for such amazing designs.
“My most popular treatment by far is builder gel. My clients love that they can grow their nails and keep them strong.”
“I use The GelBottle products for all of my nail treatments, and Nail Order for my full cover extension system,” she says. “I couldn’t live without my Navy Pro Tools for my prep, Willow e-file bits and my BrillBrid brushes for my nail art.
“Last but not least, I finish every treatment with NAF! Pro cuticle oil. They smell unbelievable.”
“There are 18 members of staff at The Beach at Sunny Daze,” Charlie notes. “We currently have no plans to expand further.
“The staff includes our salon owner, Colette; salon manager, Lauren; salon junior, Callie; two nail technicians, being myself and my sister Katie; barber, Georgia; hairdresser, Zoe; unisex hair stylist, Erin; beautician, Julie; two aesthetics practitioners, Stacey and Paul; face and body artist, Tiffani; two physiotherapists, George and Becca; diet specialist, Jenny; travel agent, Clare; photographer, Sherie; and Shona, who does our laser treatments.”
“Our salon is unique in so many ways,” Charlie smiles. “We pride ourselves on being a safe space with no judgment. Come all dolled up or in your jammies – we love you no matter what. We love making clients feel happy and welcome.
“You can expect five star treatment at our nail bar, and nothing is ever too much trouble.”

“The salon owner, Colette, chose the décor. She loves bright and blingy, and this definitely shows throughout the salon. We want clients to feel like they’re on vacation and being pampered. Our decor is so upbeat that it really just feels like our clients are coming to a beach party. It’s impossible to walk in and not instantly feel happy. We are a very sociable place, and often have clients just come in for a blether.
“My favourite part of my set up has to be my mirror shelf for my nail colours. My husband made it for me and I just love it. It shows off my collection of colours beautifully.”
