Lynn Riley opened Skye Beauty Salon in July 2017 with great ambitions for the business. “I had a huge client base already built up in my area which made the transition to the new salon easy and its gone from strength to strength,” Lynn states. “It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made after years of working from home or mobile.”
Due to the popularity of Lynn’s business, her client base has been increasing, leading to a need for a few extra hands around the salon. Lynn explains, “This then allowed me to work alongside two other beauticians, Leah and Joanne, who rent one of the rooms on a self-employed basis. I also have an assistant, Sadie, who works with me on location at weddings. I’m hoping to have her in the salon on busiest days over the summer as a salon junior, too. This creates a lovely team that all work together as a unit.
“We offer a wide range of treatments and products,”, Lynn says. “Calgel nail treatments, pedicures, Nouveau Lash Extensions and LVL by Nouveau Lashes lash lifting, HD Brows and make-up lessons, waxing, and tinting. I specialise in Calgel treatments, including nail extensions and overlays. I also like to do a bit of nail art on some of my adventurous clients. I have been working with the brand for around ten years now.” Having a passion for nails, Lynn loves her job because, ‘no two sets of nails are the same’. “I love getting creative and when clients give me a bit of a challenge,” Lynn explains.
Having a large space of her own Lynn was able to adapt the salon to her own style. “When choosing the décor for the salon, I had an image in my head of a modern, trendy city-style salon and it’s turned out better than I dreamed. I wanted to keep all the furniture mostly white but added the touch of colour to the walls and furnishings to brighten everything up. It’s not just Lynn that loves the style of the salon; “Everyone who has visited the salon has commented on how they love the décor and it feels like visiting a salon in a big city!” Lynn exclaims.
“I think that the style of the salon reflects well on the level of treatments we provide as current and on trend. We have something for everyone. The theme of the salon also works in well with the type of nail art I love to do, bold colour, clean lines and geometric patterns!”
