Salon in the Spotlight: Scratch Nail and Beauty Salon, Stourbridge, West Midlands

Since its opening in 2004, salon owner Chantal Chambers has grown and developed Scratch Nail and Beauty Salon to a team of seven, with four nail techs, including Chantal, Cassie, Elise and Eve; two beauty therapists, Jen and Lucy; and nurse practitioner, Natalie. “All of the team get on so well,” Chantal smiles. “We’re like a work family.”

“We offer a huge treatment menu from manicures to aesthetics,” she shares. “Our most popular treatments are gel nails. We offer classic manicure, file and polish, gel overlays using BioGel and Calgel, and CND nail enhancements.

“We’re the forefront in the local community for nails and beauty, with clients that travel miles to visit the salon.”

“I expanded to add the Moet and Chandon Bar to add more for my customers and to stand out even more in the local area,” Chantal reveals. “We do a lot of wedding parties and it’s just adding an extra touch.

“It means that if my clients have had a bad day, they can unwind and have a chilled glass of bubbles with their service.”

“I love champagne myself, and thought, who wouldn’t want to sit and enjoy a glass whilst having their mani or pedi!”

“My favourite colour is white, so that’s the main colour in salon. It’s clean, chic and clinical, all in one,” she nods. “I’m rebranding the salon as a MediSpa, now we have my sister Natalie, who’s our nurse practitioner, on board.

“I get a lot of my ideas from simply being in my head – I lay awake late at night and sometimes it’s as simple as that. I live eat and breathe my business.”

“The bar has completed the salon as a whole. It was not an easy process, but was so worth it, it’s finished off my vibe in the salon completely.

“The decor symbolises the look I wanted for the salon – chic, classy and elegant. Scratch runs so well and this is down to my amazing girls. We are Scratch. We make it,” Chantal beams. “Every single customer that steps through my door is made to feel welcome and like a VIP. Nothing is too much trouble and we go that extra mile.”
