Olivia Grace Lovatt and her husband initially started their garage conversion with the intention of making it a playroom for their children. After working for her sister since 2005, she realised she wanted to spend more time at home.
“My husband said if I wanted to spend more time at home with my little girl, I should turn it into a salon. It was the best thing I ever did,” Olivia smiles. “I always wanted my own salon, but I never had the confidence. I had also always wanted to work from home, I’m a home bird. I don’t know why I waited so long!”
“My favourite brands to use are Premier Gel and Glitterbels,” she explains. “I’ve used a lot of different systems over the years, and these are by far the best!
“My favourite products from Glitterbels is the Acrylic System, and I use all of the gel colours from Premier Gel. I love that there’s so many colours to choose from.”
“I make my treatments personal and give special one-to-one attention. I personalise treatments by sitting and doing a consultation with the client first. I find out about their personal expectations and what they want to achieve with their nails, whether it’s for an occasion or long-term healthy nail goals.”
“I’m home based, so I’ve tried to create a comfortable vibe for my clients. I’ve tried to keep it clean and professional, while also keeping a lot of greenery, as you walk through my garden to get to the salon so I tried to tie the two together.
“I have a tree which overhangs the entrance to the salon and a feature wall with my salon name and logo. I think the greenery adds a sense of calm to the salon, the same way a garden would.”
“I’ve kept everything fairly plain and simple, making sure all products are stored away properly and are only out when set up for a treatment. My salon is bespoke and made to my personal taste. Because I’m home based, I didn’t want to feel away from home, so I made an effort to tie in with my home decor and garden.”
