Having honed her skills in a salon, Liv Oldfield decided it was time to spread her wings and fly solo, seeing her open Nails By Liv Salon. “This venture is a brand new, at-home studio,” explains Liv. “I opened the salon at the beginning of the month, after being at my previous salon for over five years.

“It is my first time working self-employed and owning my own salon. While I have no planes to expand quite yet, I would like to expand into a larger commercial unit potentially in the future should the business grow as I plan it and be a success.

“I wanted to create a studio space like I’d not seen anywhere else before,” Liv continues. “I thought long and hard about what ‘style’ route I wanted to go down and I tried to tick so many boxes in terms of ‘what a salon should look like’, but in the end, those styles weren’t making me happy and just didn’t suit my personality

“I realised that this is my workspace, and I wanted it to be my little retreat where as soon as I stepped through the door; somewhere I felt mentally and emotionally happy with a smile beaming from both inside and out.

“The 90s and early 00s were the happiest years of my life – my young childhood. Those who know me well, know that the term ‘a big kid at heart’ fits. I wanted to create a mega colourful, fun and nostalgic studio. I wanted to make everyone who entered, have that ‘wow’ moment, followed by the feeling of not knowing where to look first – just like a child in a sweet or toy shop.

“I wanted to bring my childhood into my adult life; everything, from the decor to the music and everything in between, is from around the millennium era!”
