Before having her children, Kirsty Lamb was working as a mobile tech – but then made the move to open a home salon to fit her job around family life.
“Being mobile was without a doubt hard work, but I knew if I wanted a career in nails, I had to work hard for it and gain a clientele. Slowly but surely my little business built up,” she explains. “Then, I decided it would be best for me to work at home and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to do so, as I have been busy ever since!”
I purchased myself a little summerhouse, but after two years it became too small. I’m so lucky as I now have a salon in a converted garage which was created during lockdown.
“I took quite a risk at such an uncertain time, but it was always something I had dreamed of so I thought, why not! I’m so glad I did. It’s just me working at my salon – my clients absolutely love the one-to-one pampering.”
“I really care about my clients’ nail health. I am so thorough with looking after the natural nail and giving the correct aftercare,” Kirsty reveals. “I think it’s so important that clients are given the correct nail care and feel they are being looked after.”
“As much as I love creating pretty nails, being a nail technician is so much more than that.”
“I offer luxury manicures, gel polish, overlays, nail repair treatments, extensions and luxury pedicures. I specialise in nail repair and all types of nail art ranging from stamping to marbling, inks, foils and so on. My clients love all the nail art choices that they’ve got,” she smiles. “I use Bio Sculpture for nails and Elim for pedicures. I absolutely adore both brands.”
“I was so lucky to get to choose the salon decor myself. I used earthy colours and multiple plants. I added some copper accessories for a warm feel. The pedicure area is created from chunky wood. My mum designed it and it’s my favourite part of the salon.
“I tried to see the salon from a client’s perspective. I wanted it to be relaxing, with a spa feel. It’s a beautiful space with a hint of eucalyptus and lavender scent. I always feel so calm being in here,” Kirsty observes. “I wanted to create a space that’s tranquil and relaxing. Clients always comment on how much they love the salon and the feel it gives. I’m so happy with it as It’s exactly how I imagined.”
