Prior to April 2021, Millie Hegarty was doing nails from her home on a part-time.
“I decided to begin working full time on a self employed basis. I started renting a room in a salon which was lovely, but I always knew I wanted to have my own premises, I just had to wait for the right time. Seven months after making the biggest decision in my career to date, I then made an even bigger one! I decided to move to my own salon right in the heart of Cheltenham’s most highly regarded street, The Promenade. On November 1, I got the keys and started to create the perfect relaxing space for my clients to get their nails done.”
“At the moment I don’t have immediate plans to expand,” she explains. “However, when looking back over the past seven months to see what I have achieved, who knows what might happen!
“Currently, at the salon, it’s just me, but I’m happy that way at the moment.”
“My salon is unique because of me! My personality shines through in everything, from the décor to the nail art,” Millie smiles. “I’m always looking for ways to better my clients experience, be it with a hand scrub and massage or a yummy Piña Colada.
“I have a reward system for clients who received regular treatments, this is a great way of showing my appreciation of their support in my business, it also makes them feel extra special.”
“I offer classic gel manicures, manicures with all of the prep and none of the colour, luxury hand scrubs and relaxing hand massages. I specialise in builder gel and bespoke nail art.
“Nail art was the reason I started doing nails,” she reminisces. “I loved watching Instagram masterclasses in the first lockdown and trying them out on my own hands.”
“I love seeing the look on my clients face when they see their nail art vision come to life.”
“My theme is calm, warming, happy and a little bit sassy! I kept the walls white, as I wanted the salon to feel light and airy with the lovely bay window being the feature of the room.
“The colour comes from the tropical prints and rusty orange feature chairs in the coffee corner,” Millie observes. “The accessories give a personal touch – my favourites are my palm tree sweet bowl, and my selection of plants and candles.”
The décor helps to make me and my clients feel super relaxed,” she enthuses. “I find that the bright colours and prints inspire me for new nail designs.
“I can already imagine that next summer, I will be doing so many decor inspired nails!”
