Describing her home salon as ‘modern but quirky’, Maisy Jeffrey reveals how she brought her personality into her East Staffordshire beauty space…
“Maisykbeauty is a representation of me and my life: a bit chaotic, quirky, fun and interesting,” Maisy Jeffrey tells Scratch. “I like to think the pink and orange colour scheme, inspired by a blanket I saw in H&M Home, and the décor shows my clients that I’m creative and ready to create any nail looks they desire, as I offer unique hand-painted nail art. Many salons I’ve seen are minimalistic, which is beautiful, but I wanted my salon to be different as this styling does not represent me.”
Maisy began training for her Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification in 2021, and took it upon herself to source education with Staffordshire-based nail brand, Glitterbels, while doing so. She scooped second place in the brand’s Gel Polish Perfection competition at its Hema Free Builder-bel Gel Launch Party in 2023, and completed her Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification the same year, before going on to train in lash lifts and eyebrow lamination.
“I use Glitterbels’ builder gel and gel polish products as I love the customer support that the brand provides, and everyone in the Glitterbels community is so welcoming and helpful,” Maisy continues. The pro also uses Nail Order’s Xtensions full coverage tip system and offers Elim pedicures, alongside waxing services, lash lifts and tints and brow laminations and tints.
She decided to build her garden salon after rising rent costs forced her to work from her house. “While the salon was being built, I worked from the top landing in my home – my clients and I are glad we don’t have to walk up two flights of stairs anymore,” Maisy smiles. “My dad, a family friend and my brother built the salon from scratch over nine months, while juggling full-time jobs.
“I am beyond grateful for their help, as I love being my own boss. I am CEO, manager, receptionist, accountant, social media manager, cleaner and nail tech, and while I’m working solo, I couldn’t imagine running my business any differently.”
