Having forged a successful solo career, Jemma Ball knew the time was right to settle with a permanent base for her beauty business. Jemma Elizabeth Beauty boasts far more than a pretty face with its inky blue and blush pink scheme, as, with a combination of Jemma’s savvy business skills and beauty knowhow, the new salon is fast becoming a top beauty destination in Stoke-on-Trent.

“We opened the doors in November last year,” Jemma states. “I put my savings into the salon, along with my blood, sweat and tears. With the help of my husband and family, I was able to complete the renovations in five short weeks. There were many late nights painting!

“I wanted the salon to feel luxurious, but also be approachable. I know from what my clients have told me that it is important that they don’t feel intimidated by a salon.

“When I first started planning the décor, I tried to find colour combinations not always found in salons. I knew I’d always have pink in the decor, so started researching. I trawled through Pinterest and sourced ideas from bars and restaurants in London and Manchester and found so many combining navy blue into their décor. Now I’m obsessed with the colour combination!”

The eye is also instantly drawn to the salon’s feature wall: a mural flowing with beauty related quotes and dainty doodles. “The wall was created by Jen Fitton, an artist I found on Instagram,” Jemma smiles. “Jen is based in Manchester and creates beautiful window art and specialises in sign writing.

“I sent her over a few beauty related quotes I had found on Pinterest and asked her to create something ‘pretty’,” Jemma laughs. “By the end of the day she had created this amazing mural that is truly one of a kind. Everyone loves it and says how they’ve never seen anything like it before.”
