After her client list grew and the demand for more hours came, Sarah Hill knew it was time to seek a solution to meet her nail needs. “I started Blush in 2012,” reveals Sarah. “At first, I worked it part time, mainly in evenings and alongside my full time job work full time in a spa. Slowly as my clientele grew, I was able to reduce my days in the spa and focus more on Blush until eventually it became my full time job.

“After four years renting a beauty room in Warrington, I decided it was time for a change. I couldn’t find a suitable space for my beauty room and that’s when I had the idea of a summer house at home.”

Now located in Sarah’s garden, the summer house offers a welcoming and private space for her and her clients. “I wanted my clientele to step into my summer house and feel like they were in a salon,” Sarah smiles. “I had the walls insulated and plastered to keep it feeling cosy and fitted blinds to ensure privacy when needed.

“The decor for Blush has always been neutral and vintage, as I think this is a timeless style. I added colour to the salon by choosing shades of pink and lilac for my soft furnishings. I wanted the salon to be delicately pretty without being overpowering. Creating a feeling of relaxation and comfort as soon as clients walked in was my aim so I always have an incense stick burning and refreshments at the ready. Nowadays I think I’m known for my nice coffee as much as I am my nails! I keep my client’s snug during treatments using a heated mattress on my beauty bed, topped off with a fur throw.

“My favourite pieces in the salon are the floral client chair and the dried hydrangea wreath that was made for me by one of my clients, Flowers are my favourite so we’re a must in the salon!”

Offering a range of treatments, Blush’s menu meets most beauty needs. “I offer gel polish services, LVL by Nouveau Lashes, waxing and Diamond Dermabrasion facials,” Sarah explains. “I would say I specialise in nail services and the LVL treatment as they are my most popular treatments.

“A lot of my clients choose nail art and often come with ideas so I’m lucky that I get to experiment with lots of designs. A lot of clients walk in and say ‘just do what you think looks best’ which is such a compliment that they trust my style! My favourite gel brands are IBD Just Gel and The Gel Bottle Inc’s range of gel polishes; they last so well and the variety of colours is huge.

“I absolutely love working as I am for the moment so can’t see anything changing in the near future but one day I would love to cross over into the teaching side of beauty. I’ve completed my PTTLs course so to work as a trainer for one of my favourite brands one day would be amazing.”
