SALON IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Blush, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh

With its romantic name and matching interior, Blush opened its doors in August last year. “It’s been one of the best decisions I ever made,” owner Kelly Pestell enthuses.
“I qualified in 2002 at NVQ Level 3. After a short period in a high street salon, I went into financial services and became a qualified mortgage adviser,” Kelly explains. “I stayed in the financial sector for over 10 years but it wasn’t until my little boy Jack started school that I was reunited with my love of beauty!
“During my college days, I had always dreamt of owning my own salon but never thought it would become a reality. I recently obtained further qualifications and had a ‘it’s now or never’ moment. I decided to take the plunge and Blush opened its doors last year.”
And the beauty room’s popularity has surged. “I’ve been awestruck at the runaway success of Blush – since we opened there hasn’t been a quiet moment!” Kelly says. “Initially, I was going to stick to lashes, mani and pedis and massages, but due to high demand from my wonderful clients I have now expanded Blush’s treatment menu to include waxing, tinting, tanning, kids mani and pedis, body scrub therapy and the brand new Blush Lash Lift.”
With the salon’s namesake its pretty pink interior, Kelly’s inspiration came from the heart. “I chose Blush as my salon’s name and colour palette as it is very meaningful for me,” she explains. “It was the scheme my husband and I chose for our wedding. The decor mixes elements of vintage white, pale grey and metallic tones.
“Blush isn’t a big chain, it’s a quaint, boutique environment where I’m personally accountable for my client’s experience, so I always strive to make it perfect for them. This includes keeping my prices fair and reasonable, always offering free after care advice and cultivating a relaxed, calm environment. I tend to book out slightly longer than needed for my appointments to ensure that each client leaves happy and satisfied.
“Blush has a modern look that is still incredibly relaxing – it has a calming effect on all my clients. I love that the salon has a professional salon feel but with the comforts of a cosy, home environment.”
