Salon in the Spotlight: Allure Nails & Beauty, North Tyneside

“I started out as a mobile nail technician in my local area alongside studying accountancy at college,” explains Melissa Wright. “I didn’t enjoy college, so my plan was pursue a nail career full time. It was a struggle at first but then it took off and my client base became huge!
“This whole time, I had been saving, knowing I wanted to own my own salon one day. Eventually I took the plunge and started to visit different units and empty shops around my area.
Finding the perfect location, Melissa got the keys in January this year and opened on a very befitting day: 8 March, International Women’s Day.
Since opening, the salon has gone from strength to strength. “We have already added 2 extra nail desks and I am already looking at bigger units over expanding to the unit next door!” smiles Melissa.
“I currently have 11 team members including myself working at the salon. Most of the team are self-employed, which means they’re at the top of their game and the best in their field. We also have an academy which is for accredited nail courses.
“We specialise in nails with a team of six on hand to tend to nail needs. We also have two lash technicians, an aesthetic nurse, semi-permanent makeup with microblading eyebrows, dermaplaning, waxing, HD Brows, hair extensions, hair styling, makeup artist and LVL Lash Lifts.”
With a blossoming treatment menu, the salon’s décor radiates positivity. “We have a pink, white and grey palette,” explains Melissa. “I think these colours are so relaxing and pretty. I wanted the salon to be girly and cute.
“We have a neon light which is pink and lights the whole back of the salon up pink and its really calming. The flowers are nude, white and cream around the mirrors. They give off such a pretty effect. Everyone loves it when they come in as it’s so different to any other salons in the area!
“We have a huge age range in our clientele. Our oldest client is 85! Our elderly clients love watching the younger ones get pampered in the pretty fluffy salon chairs. They love the decor as well as the younger clients!”
