Articles from Google News were analysed to find nail trends that are set to be big this year, based on the number of hashtags views each trend had.

1. Press on nails

In 2020, press-on nails saw a rise in popularity due to nail technicians creating and selling sets to help keep finances and creativity flowing during lockdown. It now seems this trend is continuing on two years later, with the hashtag #pressonnails having 2.7 billion views on TikTok. If you were thinking of stopping your press-on nail sets to sell due to tech life being busy, think again!

2. Blue nails

Blue nails have seen a high increase in popularity over the last few months, with 179 million views for the hashtag #bluenails on TikTok. So if you have an indecisive client not knowing which colour to opt for, suggest they jump on the blue bandwagon.

It seems nail technicians and nail lovers are loving this bold new look with the hashtag #abstractnails having a staggering 45.4 million views on TikTok.

8. Nail wraps

With 32.6 million hashtag views on TikTok, nail wraps are becoming the direct rival to press on nails in 2022, with nail wraps offering a quick and easy way to achieve a range of designs.

9. 3D nails

3D nail art takes design on nails to the extreme and it’s not just celebrities who have been loving the trend. In fact, 3D nails now have 28.1 million hashtag views on TikTok.

10. 70s swirl nails

70s trends seem to be making a comeback in almost all areas of beauty and fashion, whether it be hair or outfit choices and even nails haven’t escaped the 70s era comeback.

As one of the most popular nail designs on TikTok, #swirlnails has 14.4 million views on the streaming platform. The great thing about this trend leaking into fashion is that clients can get their nails to match their favourite swirly top.
