October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for the past few years, Scratch has been supporting the Let’s Nail Breast Cancer campaign to help raise funds for the Future Dreams charity.

The campaign was launched by Lisa Crook, founder of nail and beauty distributor, Louella Belle, who set out to encourage nails to be painted pink throughout October – with techs and clients donating money from their manis to Future Dreams, which supports those affected by breast cancer.

A number of nail aficionados jumped on board to support the cause, including René Lipsitz, Bio Sculpture UK founder (now Re:New Beauty), and Susan Gerrard, founder of Gerrard International.

Lisa Crook and René Lipsitz passed away from breast cancer in 2017 and 2015 respectively and their legacy continues through the efforts of their families and sales of nail products.

Louella Belle, Re:New Beauty and Gerrard International have collaborated to raise funds for Future Dreams by renaming two of their most popular pink nail shades each after the six men featured in 2020’s Let’s Nail Breast Cancer campaign photo shoot. Re:New Beauty has been supporting the Nail Breast Cancer campaign since Lisa Crook founded it. Breast cancer has impacted so many business owners in the nail industry and so it felt natural for several of us to collaborate.

“Sadly, we lost René Lipsitz to breast cancer in 2015. As a business, we like to honour her by continuing to raise awareness and funds for the cause to try and improve treatment, care and prevention of breast cancer.

Re:New Beauty has always promoted Nail Breast Cancer to its customers and encouraged them to collect donations from their clients.

“As a business, we like to make a donation too, and this has totalled over £10,000 over the last three years.

“We work with Future Dreams and the other nail brands throughout the year to plan the campaign each year and to make sure as many techs are aware of it as possible by October.”

“As a female dominated industry, it is disproportionately be impacted breast cancer. This gives us an audience who is very much aware of the risks around breast cancer and what needs to be done to fund care and research.”
