Points to consider before purchasing nail products

When buying professional products, you should be looking for a company that asks questions such as what certificates you have. If you don’t have certificates, does the company offer training? If not, that suggests it will sell its product to anyone – including your own client or future client.

Consider also whether the company is affiliated with the brand you want to purchase? Is it an authorised or recognised partner of that brand? If not, how do you know what you are buying is genuine? Is that someone you want to hand your hard-earned cash over to? If yes, expect the worst.

My advice? Buy from the right people to start with.

You’re covered, you know what you’re getting and if they value their customer relationships, they will be there to help if something goes wrong. It takes a great deal of time and experience to become a truly great distributor. Most don’t realise the hoops we have to jump through just to bring product in from abroad. It’s not about putting a product in a box and sending it.

If you don’t have recognised training certificates in the area in which you are working – whether that be nails, hair, lashes, waxing – then you are liable and one day, very soon, something is going to happen to make those out there playing sit up and take note. We are in a serious industry dealing with serious products and serious treatments.

We are no longer a small industry. We are recognised and those that don’t care about learning and updating skills are going to either get in trouble due to lack of knowledge and poor application or simply left behind while those that do care forge ahead with amazing skills, social media savvy and an investment in education so they continue to be the best of the best.

The paying consumer deserves to trust that the professional carrying out that treatment is knowledgeable in that area of our industry and they will get what they are paying for.
