Nikki Patterson of Eat Sleep Polish, chats to Scratch about her career, hopes for the future, and how to create this perfectly peachy design…
“I have been doing nails for four years and work from home in my little nail room, having trained in gel polish, acrylic, hard gel and PolyGel. My business has grown consistently and before lockdown I was no longer able to accept new clients, which is a great place to be!
“My signature style is super neat cuticles and simple nail art – such as stamping, glitter and freehand work. My clients love it all! I love using The Gel Bottle Inc Builder in a Bottle as well as the brand’s other colours and Magpie Beauty glitters.
“To create this peachy design, I used The Gel Bottle Inc’s Builder in a Bottle in the shade Teddy before applying The Gel Bottle shades Flame, Peach Daiquiri, Daisy, Rio and Chocolate. I used the brand’s detail, liner and ombré brushes to create the designs on the two feature nails. The ombré brush was great for creating the stripes on the middle finger, to which I then added foil and dots to complete the design. My client and I used a picture from Pinterest as inspiration.
“The thing I love most about working in the nail industry is my clients – they now feel like friends and I go through all of their ups and downs with them! I also love the satisfaction of creating neat work that lasts.
“The highlight of my career has been being featured in Scratch’s nail gallery of the week – I waited two and a half years and I cried and hardly slept when I finally saw my work there! And now this!
“I really hope in the future to be featured in Scratch magazine paper copy, and I’d love to focus on improving my nail art skills.”
