Nail techs, Rachel Coast and Evie Glows, started out as online friends within a nail tech community, and have since launched their podcast, The Nail Files.

Describing the podcast as ‘relatable, uplifting and a way to facilitate connection’, the duo is passionate about entertaining nail techs with relatable and humorous content. The pair spoke to Scratch about the podcast’s beginnings, content and their plans…

How did you meet each other?

We met through The Nail Tech Org community! We both joined around the same time and ended up going to the Pricing Campaign event, in March 2023. That was the first time we met in person, so we’ve got the online community’s founder, Amy Guy, to thank for bringing us together!

How did you first come up with the idea for the podcast?

From the moment we met, it felt like we’d known each other forever; we clicked straight away! It is one of those friendships that went from zero to a hundred, and we knew we had to do something together.

Despite living three hours apart, we never stopped talking via FaceTime and messaging, so a podcast felt like the perfect idea. At first, we were unsure how we’d fit it in, with both of us being full-time nail techs, and we were also nervous about how it would be received. However, when someone at a The Nail Tech Org event said: ‘Why don’t you two have a podcast?‘, that was the push we needed to go for it.

Why do you think your podcast will be loved by nail techs?

Because it’s made for nail techs, by nail techs. It’s like a group chat come to life, full of stories only nail techs truly get – from funny mishaps to the proud moments no one else sees. There’s so much hustle in this industry, but we want to encourage more real talk and genuine connection.

Our podcast is like a virtual salon hangout, breaking down the isolation that can come with the job and reminding everyone that we’re all in this together.

What’s unique about The Nail Files?

For us, the podcast is about having a laugh and fun. We’re not pretending to be all about education – that’s for the pros to handle! Along with important topics, we bring a friendship vibe, like you’re sneaking in on two besties gossiping over a glass of prosecco. It’s real, relatable and packed with good vibes and belly laughs.

What content do you post on YouTube

On our YouTube channel, we post the full video versions of The Nail Files episodes, so if you want to see the facial expressions behind the chaos, that’s the place to be! We also upload vlogs from events we’ve been to and behind-the-scenes, extra content.

What future goals do you have for The Nail Files

First off, we’d love to grow our community even more, reaching more nail techs who might need a laugh, some company during their day, or a reminder that they’re not alone in this industry. We want to bring the podcast offline too – maybe through live recordings, events, or even a Nail Files tour one day!

We also want to bring on more guests: not just industry experts, but everyday nail techs with brilliant stories to tell. We want to keep building a space that’s inclusive, uplifting and fun – where everyone feels like they’re part of something.
