Nail Tech Talk: Lilli Pullman of Lilli Paintz

Heading straight to college to complete her NVQ’s in Levels 2 and 3 upon leaving school, Lilli jumped headfirst into the industry, training in gel polish before working as a mobile nail technician.

“I’ve since worked in a few salons offering nails alongside a range of beauty treatments, but after having children in 2017, I decided to focus solely on doing nails from home,” Lilli recalls. “I now specialise in builder gel – my clients love the durability – and nail art services.”

“I love nothing more than creating outrageous, bright designs on nails,” she smiles. “One of the most popular designs I offer is abstract swirls, which people have throughout both summer and winter.

“I still have a lot of clients that love a classic French tip with different coloured tips, a perfect prep helps me achieve this classic look every time.”

“Being creative is something I’ve loved since I was a child. Expanding that into a way to earn money and create beautiful nails is a dream come true.

“A few years ago, I started painting old bags and shoes that I had at home,” Lilli remembers. “With a little encouragement from friends and family, I’ve now stated doing this as a business alongside nails, drawing customised designs onto clients shoes, bags and accessories.”

“Being creative is what I love, so being able to do it for work is amazing.”

Lilli reveals that her biggest source of inspiration comes from Instagram, noting her love for checking out the work of other industry professionals and finding inspiration in the designs they create.

Reflecting on her time in the industry, Lilli shares her joy at her experiences and growth within that time. “I think my next step would be to eventually train other techs to support them in creating nail art designs for their own client,” she shares.

“If I was going to choose one nail colour to summarise me, it would be a neon green hue,” Lilli says. “I seem to choose this shaded for every holiday or event I have throughout the year.

“I love neon green because it’s a bright and bold, standout shade, and is definitely out of the ordinary!”
