NAIL TECH TALK: Dani Bailey- Scratch Snap winner to OPI Nail Boss

Dani Bailey of Nails by Dani qualified as a nail technician in July 2019 after always being obsessed with nails and learning how to do her own at the age of 14 by her mum.
“Since moving to the UK, I was a personal trainer. When I had to give that up because of health issues, the idea of doing nails came from a family member and I decided to train. I opened my home salon in August 2019 and here I am now,” revealed Dani.
When the first lockdown hit, Dani used the time to take part in OPI‘s daily competitions, various courses and workshops, online tutorials and Scratch’s Creative Challenge every Wednesday.
“OPI has always been a very big part of my journey, as they have always been my favourite brand, and after training with them I got heavily involved with their online community on Facebook, especially during the first lockdown.”
When Dani saw that the April 2021 edition of Scratch Snap was sponsored by OPI, she knew she had to enter. “I never expected to win, I was with a client and suddenly I got a notification on my watch that Scratch had tagged me in a story – and I was shocked. Once the client left I was literally screaming and running around the dining room table – my dog thought I was crazy!”

Dani received the email inviting her to be an OPI NailBoss shortly after winning Scratch Snap, highlighting what it involved and congratulating her for the Scratch Snap win.
As a OPI NailBoss member, Dani will be involved in new launches by trying out new products, as well as sharing what she thinks on social media, and connecting with other nail professionals.
“For the future I just want to grow my craft, I’m a newbie so I still have so much to learn from the amazing techs out there. One of my dreams was to feature in Scratch, and another is to win a Scratch Stars Award! I’ve also just launched my own line of products such as sanitisers, hand creams and cuticle oils so I would really like to grow my brand, Alma by Dani.
