Here’s how The Massage company has made treatments more accessible

We all know that beauty services are so much more than just aesthetics. Offering a chance to unwind, indulge or promote a sense of confidence and wellbeing, many of us are guilty of not making ‘me time’ a priority, which is so important for both mind and body.
The Massage Company has understood this since 2016, when it opened its first centre in Camberley. Designed to bring high quality massage treatments to the mainstream, its centres offer a variety of massage options at affordable package prices to make the treatment more accessible to those with little free time.
“Regular massage is proven to help with stress, aid relaxation, raise alertness and assist in recovery from treatment and surgery,” comment The Massage Company founders, Charlie Thompson & Elliot Walker. “But for most, massage is still occasional and frequently expensive.
“We want people to see massage as good value for money, so it can become a vital and routine part of a better and balanced quality of life.”
Powerful beliefs drive The Massage Company, which boasts an additional three centres to the Camberley site – in High Wycombe, Sutton Coldfield and Tunbridge Wells. Charlie and Elliot have placed these centres in busy areas with great public transport links to make the treatment one that’s part of a routine; up to once a month.
The duo comments: “We’ve re-thought the way people should consume massage and offer a variety of optional treatment upgrades. We provide massage in fantastic facilities in highly convenient locations that fit in with our customers’ needs and have developed a certified training programme for our staff.”
I headed to the Tunbridge Wells location, the first UK franchise TMC centre which is open seven-days a week and until 9pm on weekdays, so ideal for the average 9-5 worker. With a choice of deep tissue, sports, Swedish or maternity massages, I opened for the tension-reducing deep tissue option to reduce my general back and neck groans; all stereotypical ailments of an office worker.
I was offered a choice of four upgrades; the use of hot stones, a scalp massage, aromatherapy or foot massage. Keen to see how massage is incorporated with foot services, I chose the latter, and after filling in my consultation room in the bright reception area, I was led to one of the treatment rooms by therapist, Abby.
A world away from the busy high street outside, the room was painted in calming hues with soothing music playing while I prepared for the treatment and laid on the treatment bed.
The treatment began with the use of a massage machine on the soles of my feet, which served to drive circulation to the area and improve mobility and long-term stiffness. Abby then moved up to work on my legs, shoulders and arms, before I turned over and the treatment continued up and down my legs, arms and onto my hands.
Feeling rejuvenated and with loosened muscles, Abby left the room so I could dress, and I was greeted thereafter with a glass of water and my future recommendations; massage up to twice a month, with hot stones advised to help reduce tension in my shoulders and lower back.
The staff members – all boasting prestigious qualifications in the field of massage – were wonderfully friendly and considerate, and the process from start to finish was comfortable, concise and streamlined.
Ideal for first-timers, I was kept well informed throughout and witnessed a number of ‘regulars’ welcomed by staff, who returned for their monthly massage.
The payment process has been kept simple, with the option of a first massage for £39.95 and two membership options thereafter; Full and Flexi. Full membership is great value for those that seek regular massages, and can indulge once a month and share twice a year. Flexi offers one massage a month – with unlimited sharing.
It was clear on exiting that Charlie and Elliot have found their niche and are executing it expertly. The treatment kept to time, it met all my needs and I left with knowledge about the further massages I need for optimum wellbeing. From easy parking to a slick, easy service, The Massage Company had thought of it all – and from witnessing the numbers through the door, they definitely have brought massage to the mainstream.
