Nail tech Claire Wheeler, owner of home nail business Beauty and the Wish in Essex, has been working in the nail industry for two and a half years.

“I have always had an artistic side and wanted to find something to do to work from home,” Claire explains. “I’d been having my nails done for a while in the salon RJ Vu in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex that offered courses, so I decided to take the plunge and train. I work in my home salon and also work one day a week at RJ Vu.”

The name of Claire’s business was inspired by the Disney film Beauty and the Beast and her late father, as she saw many dandelions that had gone to seed (also known as dandelion ‘wishes’) when he passed away.

“This L&P acrylic with gel colour design was inspired by a t-shirt I owned that had a mouth on it,” she says. “I love using Swarovski crystals, which I get from Bluestreak Crystals. I do use a lot of crystals and am known for my bling creations! I used Vu Nail Systems products to create this design along with Urban Graffiti colours. The gems are set in Vu Shine One Phase Clear Gel which I have found to be an amazing product as my gems never come off.

“This set was actually done on my own nails. I love experimenting with new designs on myself as well as clients. I think my nails show off my work wherever I go, so I always want them to be as sparkly as possible.”
