Begin the week the right way with some nail inspiration this mani Monday!

June is the host of Pride Month – a monthlong LGBT+ celebration, protest and act of political activism. Nearly every US city has some sort of big event – usually a large parade with plenty of rainbow iconography, glitter and floats driven by local companies and organisations.

Although originating in the US, LGBT+ advocates in the UK also now celebrate Pride Month in June.

One way in which advocates show their support throughout Pride Month is through their manicure. Nails become tiny protest picket boards and means of self expression for many throughout this month, becoming an effective communication tool.

This design created by talented tech, Kendall Mastin (@kendallattheknot), for a client features a love heart, rainbows, clouds, a unicorn and the word ‘queer’ detailed across the ring and middle finger. Created on short natural nails, Kendall used Gelousy 1-Step Base Gel, OPI’s Put It In Neutral, Strike Gold glitter gel from Kiara Sky and Mission Control from Young Nails Inc.

Kendall also shared the personal inspiration behind the design on her Instagram, stemming from her client’s t-shirt reading ‘wish you were queer’ and the rough design plan that she had jotted down on a sticky note.
