Begin the week the right way with some nail inspiration this mani Monday!
A new trend has caught our attention here at Scratch HQ and that is the ‘candy ball’ (also know as ‘bubble flower’) technique – seeing what appears to be a 3D flower encapsulated in a glass ball. Elegant and be sure to stir intrigue, the look adds a touch of decadence to any design.
Rachael Beaumont, of the Glitz & Glam Nail Van – Nails by Rachael, tried her hand at the design after seeing it trending on Instagram last week.
“To create the bubble flowers, you need to use a structure/builder gel for a thicker viscosity and, with a very small-ended dotting tool (or any tool with a sharper point) dip into the clear gel until it forms a little bead on the end and cure. Dip into glitter or caviar beads and again dip into the clear to form another layer, while continuing to turn the dotting tool to keep the bead rounded, cure again. Paint two petals on either side with gel polish or gel paint and cure, dip into the clear again and cure and then paint two petals on the opposite sides before curing. Continue to repeat the process until you are happy with how the bubble flower looks! I also used Magpie Beauty Gel Colour for the nails and Swarovski crystals and pearls to finish the look.
“I created the design because I’d seen the nails trending on Instagram and on various social media profiles of talented techs and I wanted to give it a try myself. It was so much fun to do and you can experiment in loads of different ways, switching up the technique for each individual. The look reminds me of glass blowing or paper weights!”
