Lauren Holmes shares her love of gel polish

Fresh from scooping the coveted Gel Polish Stylist of the Year accolade at the Scratch Stars Awards 2019, Lauren Holmes of Nailed It Beauty, reveals what it is about the gel polish medium that she loves…
Over the years, Lauren has trained with ASP, Gelish and The Gel Bottle Inc, and gel polish has been a constant and ever-loved medium throughout her career. Head to her Facebook or Instagram pages and you can enjoy an endless scroll through beautifully shaped and flawlessly painted natural nails, all crafted with gel polish.
“I enjoy the process of a gel polish manicure than creating a set of extensions,” Lauren reveals. “I love just how excited some of my clients get when they come back to show me how much their nails have grown.
“When I used to use just nail polish, it was heartbreaking to know that I had spent all that time and effort creating a set of nails and they could easily chip the next day,” – Lauren Holmes.
“Gel polish is so versatile and durable and I love that I can create a piece of art and know that it will last my client at least three weeks. When I used to use just nail polish, it was heartbreaking to know that I had spent all that time and effort creating a set of nails and they could easily chip the next day. I also love the earning potential with gel polish; as much as I’m in this industry to create art, I’m also doing it to make a living for myself. Every year I get quicker and more experienced so my earning potential continues to grow.
“A long-lasting overlay requires perfect preparation, and I spend nearly half of my appointment time sometimes just prepping the nails and cuticle work. Smooth application is also paramount, as capping the nail with gel polish sometimes leaves techs with an uneven finish towards the tip of the nail, so I cap the tip of the nail first before painting the whole nail, which I feel helps to keep it smooth and even.”
