How did your career in nails begin?
A long time ago, my parents bought me a nail kit as a birthday present. Initially I thought, ‘why would you get me that?‘ but it turns out that I loved it. I’ve always been a bit arty so looked into education and the rest is history. I’ve been in the industry now for 10+ years.
What is it about nails that has you hooked?
I have so many clients who walk in with their hands in their pockets, ashamed to show their nails. When they leave, they wave their hands around with a renewed confidence – I mean, what’s not to love about that?
What do you love about being a brand ambassador for Lecenté?
Being part of the Lecenté glitter family is just all kinds of awesome, as I get to hear about upcoming launches first and can try new products before anyone else.
The Lecenté brand is not only innovative and creative, but the team is always looking for ways to give nail techs products that look great and are easy to work with. The team I passionate about ensuring its products are safe.
What are your favourite Lecenté products?
My favourite Lecenté product is foil as you can create so many different looks. From randomly dabbed to full coverage, a foil sandwich, matte or shiny; it’s so versatile.
What excites you about the UK nail industry?
There’s so much happening in the nail industry at the moment, it can really make your head spin. I like that there is a real movement towards better education and allergy awareness.
What are your thoughts on the importance of education in the nail industry?
Education is hugely important, from hygiene to product information. We need to understand how and why a product does what it does so, in the event that something isn’t working the way it should, we can figure out why. There is a wealth of information out there from respected people in the nail community: Marian Newman and Doug Schoon are my top two.
