Social media has never been so prevalent in the nail industry. While it can be a minefield and extremely difficult to navigate at times (especially due to the ever-changing Facebook and Instagram algorithms), it can be the make or break of any business.
Extending your reach beyond your existing following is one of the main focuses of developing a brand on social media. Your content could be exceptional but is only being circulated around the same group of people with every upload. To avoid getting stuck in a rut, its important to create ‘shareable’ content. This means making it easy for users to share your content while also making them want to share it.
The ‘share’ tools on Facebook and Instagram do a lot of the hard work for you, making it easy for users to share content with their friends and family in the touch of a button. However, it is up to you to make them want to hit that button in the first place.

Generally, relatable content is shareable content: for example, a meme about how long it takes a client to choose a nail colour. As well as this, the instant aesthetic impact of an image can determine whether a user decides to share it with the rest of their following. Taking clear and considered nail images with effective lighting and editing is imperative to creating a picture that has the potential to be shared.
Following individual platform formats will also help to make content more ‘shareable’. Be sure to follow length restrictions on videos (these are limited to one minute for an Instagram flat post, 15 seconds for a single Instagram Story but endless for IGTV and Facebook uploads) and use the correct format for each video type. Therefore, for a video that will be uploaded to your grid, stick to one minute so there are no jarring cut-offs for the viewer. This promotes a feeling of a well-rounded, professional clip that is easy to digest and – you guessed it – share.
