Fresh from scooping third place in Scratch’sphotographic nail competition, The Great Scratch Shoot Out 2019, Ilona Vasiliauskiene is keen to share her passion for competing through her role as an educator at her international nail training centre, ONIKSAS.
“My career started in 2015 when I sought my first manicure course,” she explains. “In 2016 I completed an intense five-day enhancement course, and within three months I competed for the first time in Bulgaria. Soon after, I won my first trophy.
“After this, I had a huge desire to be a top nail technician but knew it wouldn’t be possible without guidance from the best educators. I contacted Maryna Bendiuk and she asked me to be on her team. Thanks to her training, I feel unstoppable in the competition field and have won more than 30 trophies in two years.
“With this experience, I am now a trainer and also a competition judge. My latest venture is NAILS magazine’s Next Top Nail Artist competition. It’s a huge honour to be in the Top 12 for Season 7.”
Ilona splits her time between the competition floor and her academy. “Currently I work with entry level students, but I also love training my team for competitions. I really enjoy seeing the huge difference in their work after such short time. Witnessing them win trophies for their hard work is the best reward.
“I believe in Lithuanian educators and nail masters as we our truly formidable competitors and our education ethos is strong.”
