Natasha Lee, nail tech and award-winning YouTuber, reveals why video is vital to your nail business…
In the ever-changing social world, video takes the forefront on every social media platform.
Algorithms give preference to video, which is why you may see many still picture quotes on Facebook produced as a video with background music playing.
Still images don’t get seen by the social media audience as much as they once did (unless the poster pays to boost them), and text-only posts fade into obscurity.
“If you want your post to be seen, video is the way forward.”
Many of you may despise the thought of just hearing yourself on a recording, let alone seeing yourself on camera, but don’t panic, there are a number of methods to focus on.
What to video?
If you are keen to attract new clients, then a quick (silent if you wish) video focusing on just the nails at the end of a service and of an overall image and close-ups is perfect. It doesn’t even have to be long; 10 seconds looped is better than nothing at all!
“The more reach your posts get, the more likely you are to bring in new clients.”
Note: ‘Reach’ is how many people see your video, so the bigger the reach, the greater the number of people that have seen it.
If you don’t feel comfortable filming your client’s nails at the end of service, then just take a really good picture. There are so many apps available now that can help you create a little video album of your favourite nail pictures from the week.
“Try and always get a close up image of any detailing, be it a nail, brow or lash treatment, and ‘before and after’ posts usually prove popular.”
If you are trying to advertise your training courses, showing ‘before and after’ pictures of your students’ work is great. Also, if you have a nice training room, include images or video of it and try and get a student to give a quick video testimony of your training and how they feel after it.
“Viewers will want to see evidence of why they should trust and hand over their money to you.”
If you just take images of students work after a course with you, turn it into a little video with information after each still image of what the course was with timescales and prices.
There are so many phone apps available for free or at minimal cost that are easy to use and produce really professional-looking video.
