As a manicure maven to the stars, Elle continues to attract attention on the red carpet with her nail creations. Scratch caught up with Elle to get an insight into the world of the tech trusted to hold the hands of the A-List…

Introduced to the beauty industry at a young age, nails have always played a major part in Elle’s life, as her father was a manufacturer of commercial nail and skincare products, giving her the liberty to play around and discover her passion organically. However, the creativity involved with designing and constructing nail art for clients and shoot briefs is only half of the attraction when it comes to her passion for the industry. “In terms of building relationships, its something I’ve always been interested in pursuing,” Elle reveals. “Now, I get to hold my clients’ hands every day, on the biggest days of their lives such as their wedding day, or their toughest; doing a house call when a client isn’t feeling well after chemotherapy and wants to feel confident with their nails done. My clients have become much more than my business, they’re life-long friends and family.

“The most exciting thing about the nail industry is that it has a bit more permanence than hair or make-up. I get to create an accessory that lasts beyond a single night. It’s exciting to be able to work alongside hair, make-up and wardrobe and constantly collaborate with our clients to create a look for a moment in time that you’ll remember forever.”

With no two days the same, Elle admits to being unfamiliar with the concept of routine as she juggles life as a mother, hectic days on set and tending to celebrity clients: crafting everyday nail looks or designs for high profile events. “If I have an editorial shoot, we start before the sun rises and I am up and on set!” exclaims Elle. It’s this sense of daily unknowing that Elle loves about life as a celebrity and session nail stylist, however. “I love that every single day is different. My job is engaging and challenging in the best way possible. I create looks that set trends; making new concepts isn’t easy! Sometimes my job is focused on making a look that is muted and not a distraction, other times I’m challenged with making the hands a focal point at a shoot.”
