Kirsten Desai, Brow by Mii educator, reveals her top tips for dealing with over-plucked brow clients…
A good set of brows speak a thousand words; brows create a lift and add definition. By using the Brow by Mii bespoke methods and techniques and introducing new products, we will always produce beautiful brows, keeping clients happy with on-going training and product launches.
Time, patience and no tweezing are the best ways to encourage regrowth!
Establish a regrowth programme – A thorough consultation, including creating a preview of the look with make-up products, is important to ensure the client is comfortable with the desired result and that they are confident in working with the therapist toward this goal. It is important to be realistic with your client in terms of the achievable results and time frame. Make-up products will be important for this client so she can she can fill in her brows with pencil and powder and can use a concealing product to hide regrowth if necessary. The Brow by Mii Conceal & Contour Duo has been created specifically for this purpose.
Colour up – While hair growth may seem slow, given time, it will usually grow back. In the meantime, suggest tinting to add density to the brow. We also use specific tint techniques, which we teach in our training, to gently colour the skin – this adds shape and acts as guide for make-up application at home.
The shape of things – When it comes to shaping, avoid sharp lines. If you want to add definition, focus on the base line of brow, keeping the top line soft. A brow stencil may help to her create the shape she desires while the hair grows in
Here’s my five-point treatment guide…
- Consultation – this is vital to achieving the best possible result. Brows will need to be measured and then a preview of the look created using make-up products. You can then agree on an achievable look that your client is comfortable with.
- Tinting is very important to add frame back into this client’s face. Depending on their natural brows, tinting fine, downy hairs and even the skin may be beneficial.
- Waxing may or may not be necessary, depending on the client. It may be predominantly downy hairs that are removed at this stage.
- Tweezing and trimming will tidy the new shape. Coarse hairs may need to be trimmed or sometimes plucked, to give uniformity to the brow hairs.
- Finishing the brow with make-up products has two benefits – the client leaves feeling perfectly confident with her brows, and it gives the therapist the opportunity to show the client how to maintain her look between treatments.
