Brand your salon to ensure it stands out from the crowd with top tips from Andrew Dark, director and co-owner of printwear and branding specialists, Custom Planet
Setting up a nail salon can be the start of something exciting, but with so many up and down the country, it can be difficult to know how to make your business stand out. While you might already have the treatment list and interior design sussed, how you brand yourself can be the deciding factor for future clients.
Here are my top three branding tips:
1.Create a standout logo
We all know that first impressions count, so creating a logo that people will instantly associate with your salon will be key in establishing yourself. Not only can a logo look attractive, but a well-thought out one can make your business look innovative and professional to potential customers.
While some people may just use their company name for the logo, using smart techniques like replacing letters with pictographs can give your logo a fun, clever edge. Using certain colours can also help to show potential customers what your business is about. While darker colours like black and navy are a nod to professionalism, brighter colours can show off the creative and vibrant personality of your company. So, think carefully when deciding on the design of your logo.
2. Use your values to your advantage
Humans are compassionate beings and, with more focus being put on ethical and environmentally-friendly services, using your morals can help you appeal to certain types of customers. For example, if you love animals and are planning to use cruelty-free products in your salon, let people know! Likewise, if you’re looking to go green, only using organic creams and lotions and making your treatment menus out of recycled paper (and noting this on them!) will help to attract the eco-friendly customer.
Explicitly making your ethical values known is likely to make your company appeal to a wider range of people. So, be sure to make these clear throughout your marketing, be it on leaflets, online, or in the salon window.
3. Pick the most suitable advertising methods
It’s no secret that most salons will start out with a relatively small customer base — maybe of ex-customers, or friends, and friends of friends. However, knowing how to expand this is important.
Social media can have a big impact in reaching plenty of users at once. However, if your salon is in a remote area, you might want to dedicate more time and effort to creating leaflets to post through doors. And, to ensure these don’t end up in the bin with the junk mail, it’ll have to be eye-catching enough to grab their attention.
Making your salon stand out doesn’t have to be expensive or confusing. Try out these tips and reap the rewards of success and profit.
