Behind The Brand: Meet the pro behind handmade beauty brand, Nellie Rose
By Rebecca Hitchon | 06 November 2021 | Brands, Feature
Nellie Rose is a hand, nail & foot brand founded by Rosie Knapper, a beauty professional from Cheshire who also runs a successful lash and brow ‘one stop shop’ and training school, Flutterby Beauty Training.
The pandemic spurred Rosie on to develop her own product range, after Covid-19 restrictions forced her school to shut.
“After months of being closed I wasn’t really sure where the business was going to be when I re-opened, so I diversified,” she says. “The pandemic allowed me to reconsider what I wanted from both businesses and how they should to work. I have always wanted my own line of beauty products, as I felt that it would link in well with my other business.”
After months of researching and product testing during the first lockdown, Rosie came up with Nellie Rose – a brand name mixing her daughter’s name, Nellie, and the first part of her own name.
Rosie creates each product using her own recipe, and although she reveals that perfecting her recipes has been a costly and time-consuming process, thanks to constructive criticism from family and friends she was able to launch Nellie Rose in February 2021, and the brand has since gone from strength to strength.
“I am really proud of how the brand has grown so much in just in a short time; I have a team of ambassadors that work alongside me to help spread brand awareness and they are all incredible,” Rosie tells us. “It also makes me so proud that people are enjoying the products, and not just that: nail technicians up and down the country are retailing them in their salons and using them on clients.”
The Nellie Rose product range consists of:
- Cuticle balm – available in sweet orange, tea tree & lavender, lemon & coconut, sandalwood & mandarin and lemon & lavender.
- Hand balm – available in sweet orange, lavender & lemon, tea tree & lavender and sandalwood & mandarin.
- Foot balm – available in peppermint and lemon & peppermint.
- Cuticle oil – available in sweet orange, lemon bon bon, coco beach, berry, tea tree & lavender, lemon & peppermint and bubblegum, with extra scents strawberries & cream, blueberry & vanilla, cherry, banana, la vie perfume, raspberry, warm gingerbread and rhubarb & custard set to be released in future.
- Hand and foot polish in sweet orange.
The sweet orange hand and foot polish is Rosie’s favourite product in the range, and she tells us that the scent is not only the bestseller across the brand but is proving to be popular with nail technicians looking to do a luxury manicure for clients.
Looking to the future, Rosie wants to keep growing Nellie Rose with the industry, while ensuring that the personal aspects of the brand remain.
