BEHIND THE BRAND: Meet Dani Bailey, the nail tech dipping her toes in beauty product innovation

Dani Bailey has been a nail technician since 2019 and has always been a nail enthusiast, doing her own nails from when she was just 13 years old, after being taught by her mum.
Dani created her product range, Alma By Dani, in the second lockdown when she was itching for a new project. She started with hand products – hand creams, natural hand washes, cuticle oil and moisturising hand sanitiser – and her clients loved them, so Dani then launched a reed diffuser and candles. Dani tells us that her favourite product is the hand butter, as it soothes and moisturises after all the extra hand washing and sanitising.
Dani wanted the overall look of the brand to be as clean and sleek as possible – no fuss, no mess – just like the products. “The company’s tag line is ‘Soulful Self Care’,” Dani reveals. “’Alma’ means ‘soul’ in my native language, Portuguese. I wanted to remind women (and men) that even in the midst of the pandemic and the restrictions imposed on us, looking after ourselves is more than ok; it’s essential! Do we need to use sanitiser? Yes – so why not use one infused with Argan Oil? And one that looks beautiful and makes you feel special?”
Dani loves to go the extra mile for her clients and says that they can see the difference. “Instead of selling a branded product, I can choose the scents, the content, the packaging, and I can actually tell them through my products exactly what I think is important for their aftercare need.”
So, what does the future hold for Alma by Dani? “I want to launch more products soon – there are a couple of things in the pipeline! I really want to grow its online presence too, so the sky is the limit!”
