Behind The Brand: Introducing the salon owner behind Aviva Pro Gel

Janan Saher is the owner and creator of Aviva Day Spa, Academy and Pro Gel.
Her career in the nail and beauty industry spans over two decades and she is proud to run her multi award-winning salon and training school, which uses her own brand – Aviva Pro Gel.
“I have always had a natural flair for nail services as I am artistic and love to paint in my free time,” Janan comments. “After opening Aviva Academy, it made sense to launch my own gel brand alongside my training courses. I found myself sending my students to other suppliers and knew I needed to consider creating my own brand.”
Janan’s goal was to create an ethical and safe gel polish brand. The line is vegan friendly and cruelty free; with a brush for precise application and an easy-to-hold bottle.
There are around 150 shades in the range, including brush-on builder gels. “The consistency of the gel means it is easy to apply and the shades are highly pigmented,” Janan continues. “Builder Gels can be used to lengthen the nail or used as an overlay. There is also Transfer Gel and Blossom Gel for nail art and a variety of base coats for different nail types.
“The Super Shiny Top Coat is non wipe, cures in 30 seconds and creates a flawless finish, perfectly sealing any gel colour or nail art. The Velvet Top Coat is similar to a matte top coat but creates a matte effect that feels like silicone. We have Crackle Gels, Spider gels, 3D Cat Eye gels, Diamond Crush glitter gels that are super sparkly and gorgeous neons, too.”
Janan came across a manufacturer of gel products at a trade show, and had full control of the name of the brand, packaging and shades she wished to launch. “I took my time and communicated regularly with my manufacturing and design team,” she reveals.
“It was during lockdown that I had the time to focus and work on finalising my dream brand. On 1 July 2020 I received the products and was absolutely delighted.”
Since the launch, Janan has recommended her products to all students that train with the academy, both past and present, and she offers Aviva Pro Gels workshops and conversion courses.
“I love teaching, and seeing my students go on to have a successful business is the most rewarding feeling, especially if they are then using and loving a brand I’ve created completely from scratch. It feels pretty amazing.”
