Ashford beauty salon: how exceptional customer service creates relaxing client experiences

Sarah Webb, owner of Bella’s Little Nail Boutique, takes pride in her standout beauty services, which place an emphasis on the client experience.

Sarah HeadshotWorking in customer service for over 20 years, Sarah knows how to offer clients an exceptional appointment. She explains: “My clients receive a coffee and biscuits, and can access WiFi for free.

“I even offer a complimentary glass of fizz at Christmas, which helps me stand out from other local beauticians.” She continues: “I remember as much as I can about each client to make them feel special. After all, without my clients, I wouldn’t have a business.”

Sarah first qualified in nails in 1998. “I was 18 when I trained and was employed by a salon. Later, I worked for myself, renting a table in a hair salon before transitioning to mobile nail work,” she says.

Sarah then took a break from tekking, before retraining in 2019 to keep up with industry advancements. “I had to learn about gel polish, as that didn’t exist in the ’90s. I also trained in the L&P acrylic system and attained a new qualification in manicures and pedicures. I undertook my training at the Beauty Barn Academy in Kent, where I later became an educator,” she shares.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the pro decided it was time to work from home. She converted her garage into Bella’s Little Nail Boutique in March 2024 – named after her daughter, Isabella.

“The colour theme had to be pink,” Sarah smiles. “My clients know me as the ‘pink queen’, so deciding on this was easy. Though, I wanted my home salon to be memorable, so made sure the toilet is particularly unique – and it’s now one of my favourite features!”

Bella’s Little Nail Boutique offers a variety of services, including:

  • L&P acrylic, gel polish and builder gel treatments.
  • Manicures and pedicures.
  • Eyelash lifts and tints.
  • Eyebrow waxing and tints.
  • Spray tanning.
  • Full body waxing.

Sarah is joined by employee, Lola, on a part-time basis. “Lola is a level 2 qualified beautician, and is currently completing her level 3 at college,” she explains. “I also employ Hannah, who helps carry out nail services during busy periods.”

Sarah seeks to hire more staff to achieve a better work-life balance: “I’m currently working very long days, with most weeks totalling around 50 hours. I’d like to hire a couple of new staff members, so I can enjoy time with my family and work 30 hours per week.”
