This month: Tracy Shelverton offers an insight into the natural nail unit
About Tracy
Tracy’s nail industry passion focuses on the nail itself and on maintaining and improving its integrity – regardless of what is built on top of it.
Soon after starting her industry journey a number of years ago, Tracy realised that not all problems in the nail plate can be fixed by simply buying more nail products, and that some nail problems can even be created by technicians that treat them to the best of their knowledge. She affirms that if techs do not understand how the nail unit works, then they cannot solve the problem.
Tracy has been inspired and educated by Doug Schoon and other leading experts in the nail industry and realised that if we change the way we educate ourselves and others, then we can also change the way we use our products.
“My place in our nail world is with the natural nail unit, its exactly where I should be, it’s my comfort zone.”
Part 1: An online journey around the natural nail unit
As nail professionals, we love beautifying our client’s nails with gorgeous enhancements and mind-blowing nail art, however, along the way the health of the natural nail sometimes gets forgotten. I’ve taken on the challenge to make natural nail anatomy sexy!
I’m offering an online class taking you on a journey through the natural nail unit. This class is made up of 11 bitesize parts in order to allow you to digest and understand each part before moving on to the next one.
To get an idea of what is in store, click here to watch a free video in which I discuss exactly what will be covered in the 10 classes that follow.
Part 2: The proximal nail fold, stratum corneum & the cuticle
What’s it about? What’s the difference between these parts of the nail unit? The difference is huge! The entire nail unit is important, but this is the most misunderstood part, so I will explain how, why and where in bitesize pieces that are easy to understand.
Missed the live class? Don’t fret, the recorded live class was uploaded within 48-hours of live class and all participants have access to the recordings for a period of one year.
This is an 11-part class. The first class is free and each of the other classes costs £29.40 + VAT. It is possible to follow individual classes, but I highly recommend doing the full syllabus to get a well-rounded knowledge of the natural nail unit. Click here to view more information about the class.
