Alkaline water: the secret to glowing skin

Cold air and central heating play havoc with the skin; fortunately we know that hydration from drinking water, cares for skin from the inside out and is key to good health. But did you know that you can take hydration to a new level with alkaline water? According to new research, alkaline water is the secret to glowing skin. Scratch dives right in…
We all know that hydration is imperative to good health and a key part of any beauty regime, after all, hydrated skin is what gives skin that healthy ‘glow from within’. However, spending all this time working from home in central heated houses can really dry the skin out, which is why hydration is even more important than ever. However, switching that second cup of coffee for tap water isn’t always the easiest swap to swallow. So, what if you were told there was something that hydrated you quicker than ordinary water, tasted better and provided an energising alternative to ‘quick fix’ acidic coffee?
It’s time to say hello to alkaline water: the advanced hydrating cousin of ordinary water, backed by science. With celebrity fans like Beyoncé and supermodel Miranda Kerr, alkaline water is making a splash in the beauty world thanks to its ability to hydrate from within. Ionised to a higher pH level, studies show alkaline water is proven to hydrate faster than ordinary tap water: A 2016 study published in the International Society of Sports Nutrition, found that alkaline water gets into the blood much quicker than ordinary water – now that’s impressive!
No longer just for superstars and models across the pond, Actiph Water has launched on local shores and is the UK’s first alkaline ionised water – purified water from Shropshire with added electrolytes and minerals that hydrates faster and helps give skin its glow back.
Dr. Naomi Newman-Beinart, Nutritionist (BSc) and a specialist in health psychology (PhD) comments on the importance of hydration and why skin will thank you for introducing alkaline water: “Hydration is key to keeping skin healthy, supple and looking great. You might work hard to make sure you drink the NHS recommended 6-8 glasses of fluid per day, but are you paying attention to what you are drinking and how it affects your skin? Drinking mainly tea and coffee all day may tick some of the boxes, but the key to great skin on the outside is being well hydrated on the inside. Drinking some tea and coffee has its benefits, but don’t forget that two-thirds of the body is made up of water, so it’s clear that nothing beats water when it comes to hydration.
If you want hydrated, glowing skin, it’s well worth trying alkaline water. Actiph uses the purest spring water from Wenlock Spring in Shropshire, then adds electrolytes and minerals, before ionising the water. This means that you are not only getting the moisture-boosting benefits of water, but maximum hydration from the electrolytes and minerals, which are essential for well-hydrated, glowing skin. An added bonus is the higher pH of the water from the ionisation process – researchers have found that alkaline water provides better hydration than neutral pH water – so it’s well worth finding out what all the fuss is about.”
Unlike many ‘designer waters’ that are shipped from around the world, Actiph alkaline water use the purest spring water from Wenlock Spring in Shropshire – so has a minimal carbon footprint.
